Why it’s important to have a skincare routine

There are so many habits and routines that make up our day to day life. I work better with a routine and feel like I've accomplished so much in my day. Your skin is the biggest organ in your body and should be taken care of. Your skincare routine will contribute a lot to your beautiful and healthy skin even 30 years from now. Building the right skincare routine can be confusing. Once you’ve worked out which products are right for you and your skin, it’s really important to layer your products correctly. Your body, mind and skin will thank you for taking that extra time each morning and night to give it some extra love and care so you radiate from the inside and out

Step 1: Cleanse AM and PM

I like to start my day with a light, hydrating cleanser to remove any traces of makeup or products from the previous day. It’s important that my skin is free of oil and dirt in order for the ingredients of my cleanser to properly absorb. My favourite cleanser is the Balance Cleansing Gel by Mukti Organics, It's a gentle foaming gel created to control oily skin

Step 2: Tone AM and PM

Use a toner after you cleanse to gently hydrate your skin and help with the absorption of moisturisers. Toners also help to unclog pores, prevent breakouts and dissolve blackheads. My favourite go-to toner at the moment is the Orange Blossom Mist by Mukti Organics. It smells divine and is a lightweight mist to help you feel refreshed and revitalised

Step 3: Serums AM and PM

Face serums are a lightweight, thinner version of a moisturiser, but contain a higher amount of active ingredients so it's great for managing specific skincare problems and they help brighten your skin, whilst minimising dark spots and circles under the eyes. My favourite serum is the Blemish Control Serum by Mukti Organics which is designed to soothe and calm flare ups, remove excess oil and control breakouts

Step 4: Moisturiser AM and PM

A moisturiser is not only great for hydration but they help lock in all the other products underneath which increases their effectiveness. My favourite is the Aloe Vera Moisturiser by Mukti Organics that works to soothe, calm and balance oil activity without drying out the skin

Step 5: Oils AM and PM

Oils soak up the moisturiser, serums and other treatments. Although the word ‘oil’ can sound a little scary, particularly if you have oily skin and are trying to reduce that, face oils seal in all the other products you’ve applied and stops them from evaporating as quickly. My favourite Brand to use at the moment is The Ordinary as it's budget friendly and gentle on my skin. My two favourite oils I use are the Niacinamide and Zinc Face Oil along with the Caffeine Solution Face Oil. The first product helps reduce blemishes and congestion whilst the caffeine solution works to reduce appearance of eye pigmentation and puffiness

Step 6: Facial Roller

The last step of my skincare routine involves my ancient beauty tool which is a method of facial massage with crystal tools, which has been seen all over instagram but has actually been making the rounds in the skin-improving sector for thousands of years. The rose quartz facial roller helps to ease tension and stress in the body, soothes anxiety, and increases self-love, which is essential when it comes to clear, smooth skin. A perfect way to supplement your daily skin care ritual. The texture of the stone feels infinitely soothing, but the rolling motion of the rose quartz boosts elimination of accumulated toxins, ‘lifts’ the face and neck and helps to bring relief from headaches. I use this daily to make sure my fine lines are plumped and my dark circles start to diminish. Hot tip - Store in the fridge to enhance the relaxing and tightening benefits. My favourite Rose Quartz Roller is from Prae Store and can be ordered online

Face masks are also a great way to boost your skincare routine. They help replenish and detoxify so that you're left with clear, radiant and bouncy skin. This means no more clogged pores and no more dryness. My favourite product to use is the Go-To Removalist Clay Mask that can be used weekly. Packed with soothing minerals and antioxidants to calm and clear the skin whilst also brightening and hydrating
